Weiser SmartKey is a mechanical lock system designed to let a compatible cylinder be rekeyed to work with a different key. The process uses the current working key and the correct SmartKey tool; it changes which key operates the lock without requiring a complete lock replacement. It is different from setting a keypad code: a standard SmartKey cylinder does not use a code or batteries.
